Editorial team on tour – summer party at Frank tews
Text: Anke DREIER
After we were unfortunately unable to accept Thamnophisworld.com invitation in 2024 for professional reasons, we were doubly delighted to be able to accept this year.
As perhaps not everyone knows, Hendrik kessler and Frank tews are the people behind Thamnophisworld.com. We spent a fun, interesting and boozy weekend with the latter.
Steven bol and Rob dogger also accepted the invitation, as did Jana and her husband Adrian.
As a small gift and thank you for the invitation, I brought along a little Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis male. As it turned out, it was Frank’s birthday on Saturday, so I hit the nail on the head and even topped the new garden hose reel (HAHA).
We were warmly welcomed by Frank and Hendrik on Friday and were treated with delicious food and pleasant conversation.
The hospitality continued on Saturday morning with a hearty breakfast before Frank led us into the hallowed halls of Thamnophisworld.com. A truly beautiful facility with many different species. I wish I had that much space.
The tour was followed by a whole day of talking shop about Thamnophis and reptiles in general, continuing into the evening, when the barbecue was fired up for Frank’s birthday party and we were once again treated to a really good and delicious meal, together with Frank’s family, who had joined us. At this point, I would like to say a special thank you to Addi, Frank’s wife, for the delicious salads, among other things.
On Sunday, to round off the weekend, we had another opulent breakfast in the garden in glorious weather.
In conclusion, I can only tell you about a Thamnophis-crazy weekend. We met some great people and, of course, deepened existing acquaintances. I can only recommend that everyone be open to new people. Acquaintances can also become friends. New insights into our great hobby, which connects people across borders. New ideas, different experiences, seeing things from multiple perspectives.
Personally, I think it’s great that there is no competitive thinking or anything like that, and that it doesn’t play a role.
We would love to come back. Especially for the delicious meat skewers!!!
