Protocol of the Annual General Meeting of EGSA e.V. held on 2 May 2026
Top 1: Opening of the AGM and welcome
As part of the EGSA e.V. members’ meeting from 1 May to 3 May 2026, a gathering took place at the “Marienthaler Hof”, Am Kloster 4, 57577 Marienthal, on Saturday 2 May 2026, from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. The chair of the meeting, Daniel v, welcomed all those present. Thirty-two members entitled to vote had accepted the invitation. In addition, seven guests attended the Annual General Meeting.
Helmut kreyerhoff was appointed as minute-taker.
Top 2: Formalities
After Daniel grübner had opened the AGM and the meeting, he confirmed that the meeting had been duly convened in accordance with the Articles of Association, both in form and within the required timeframe, and was therefore quorate. The agenda was adopted without any requests for amendments or additions from the participants. Daniel grübner confirmed that the General Meeting, with 32 participants present, had a quorum. The minutes of the 2025 AGM were available on site and were unanimously approved.
Top 3: Honours
Kenneth dirschel was presented with the EGSA e.V. bronze badge of honour and a certificate for 15 years’ membership by the First Chairman.
Annabell radisch was also honoured for 15 years’ membership, albeit in her absence.
Helmut kreyerhoff was presented with the silver badge of honour and a certificate for 25 years’ membership.
The following were also honoured in absentia for 25 years’ membership:
Peter ammermann, Tino körner, Peter zimmermann, Christoph stenger and Peter haßhoff.
Top 4: Annual Report of the Executive Committee
Daniel grübner reported on the activities of the Executive Committee. He began by discussing the society’s magazine, “The Garter Snake” (TGS for short), and sought the views of the readers present, particularly regarding the bilingual (German/English) articles. Everyone was pleased with this and took it as an encouragement to continue in the same vein. He reported on the work required of the Executive Committee to maintain the association’s charitable status, as EGSA e.V. is a registered association. In this context, he also mentioned DGHT members, who, for example, can purchase a wristband at TERRARISTIKA in Hamm using their DGHT cards and gain immediate entry via the side entrance. This should soon be possible for other non-profit associations as well, including our own. To this end, those interested have given their consent via a sign-up list, authorising the DGHT to use their data solely for this purpose. Members who were unable to attend can also have their names added to this list. An option to do so will be made available via the EGSA WhatsApp group and via the TGS.
Top 5: Financial Report
Treasurer Bettina kunert presented her financial report and outlined the balance sheet for the 2025 financial year. The accounts were audited, and the report and the regularity of the accounts were confirmed without objection by the auditors Markus steinkopf and Michael dreier.
Top 6: From the Editorial Team
Editor Jennifer rejchel made it clear that the TGS thrives on readers’ articles and noted once again that these are coming in only slowly, despite her own efforts and, in particular, those of Anke dreier. A suggestion was made to reprint classic articles from the past. Martin hallmen was happy for his article on the distinction between ‘florida blue’ and ‘similis’ to be published without any changes. Steven bol would prefer to revise his article on ‘snake hibernation’ once more.
The aim, Daniel grübner went on to report, is to create an archive of all previous TGS articles on our website. A newsletter on how to use the new website is planned as soon as it offers the relevant functions. Until then, the website serves as a calling card for EGSA e. V. to potential new members.
Agnès JOLY, today’s guest speaker, had agreed to write an article on her topic ‘Frogs for Snakes’. Jan trischberger reminded everyone once again to write articles on the theme ‘At Home’, with new members in particular in mind. The editor, Jennifer rejchel, added that anyone feeling unsure about writing an article is welcome to contact her. Daniel grübner praised the entire team involved in publishing the TGS and expressed his sincere thanks for their excellent work on behalf of the association.
Top 7: Webmaster’s Report
Jörg kleylein klein reported on a bot attack on our website, which he was, however, able to contain and ultimately fend off. The next task is to set up the TGS archive, as previously mentioned, and to update the design. Here too, Daniel thanked Jörg for his good work.
Top 8: Discharge of the Executive Committee
Martin hallmen took the floor and praised the evidently good cooperation within the Executive Committee. He therefore proposed that the entire Executive Committee be discharged. The proposal was adopted unanimously.
Daniel grübner expressed his thanks and confirmed, from his own perspective too, that the cooperation within the Executive Committee had been particularly good, to his complete satisfaction.
Top 9: Members’ concerns
When asked whether any members had any further concerns, there were no responses.
In the run-up to the meeting, the society had been entrusted with a large number of garter snakes from an estate, to be rehomed to responsible and experienced owners. According to Daniel grübner, the executive committee had discussed the allocation in detail beforehand and decided to rehome the animals with members present at the general meeting. To ensure the allocation process was as fair and transparent as possible, a survey was conducted during the general meeting to ascertain which groups of members could accommodate the animals in question – in other words, which members were in principle interested in taking them on. Fortunately, exactly one interested party was found for each animal, meaning the animals found new homes without the need for further discussion, negotiation or a draw.
Daniel grübner then expressed his thanks to Kenneth dirschel, who had collected the animals prior to the meeting and brought them to Marienthal. He also thanked all the members who had made the allocation process so understanding and considerate.
Top 10: Next Meeting
The next meeting – which Kenneth dirschel had already organised in advance – will take place at the Hotel Adler in Augsburg from 7 to 9 May 2027.
Agenda Item 11: Issue of TGS 02/26
Once again, Anke dreier had a smart TGS magazine to distribute to all members.
As no further matters or motions were raised, Daniel grübner brought the Annual General Meeting to a close at around 12.30 pm.
