Membership fee:
There are two different types of membership in the EGSA e.V. Normal membership costs €40. There is also the option of registering family members and partners as so-called partner members. Partner membership costs an extra €5 per person (i.e. member + partner = €45).
Partner members are full members. The only difference is that they do not receive their own copy of the club magazine The Garter Snake.
Discounts for pupils, students, etc. are generally not available. Individual decisions by the board are possible.

Next steps:
As soon as the registration form has been received by our treasurer and the annual fee has been credited to the club account, you will be notified and assigned a membership number.
Your membership will then begin retroactively to 1 January of the year. You will receive all issues of the club magazine The Garter Snake published in the year up to the date of joining.
You will also be promptly activated for the “internal” area of the homepage and receive a user name by e-mail.
Duration of membership:
Membership lasts from 1 January to 31 December of each year. It is automatically renewed if it is not cancelled in writing (informal email is sufficient) before the end of the year. No refunds will be made for membership fees already paid.
SEPA Direct Debit Scheme:
A form for issuing the SEPA direct debit mandate is provided. Participation in the direct debit procedure is required for membership!
The EGSA is a recognised non-profit association. Membership fees and donations can therefore be claimed against tax at the tax office. Donation receipts are only issued on request (not automatically) by the treasurer.

New benefit for members: Admission wristbands for Terraristika Hamm directly at the DGHT tent
In the future, you will be able to purchase admission wristbands for Terraristika Hamm Reptile Expo directly at the DGHT tent — without having to wait in the long entrance queue.
As many of you already know, DGHT (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Herpetologie und Terrarienkunde) members have the advantage of being able to buy their admission wristbands at the DGHT tent before the expo opens. This allows them to use the side entrance directly and avoid the very long waiting line.
Thanks to an agreement between the DGHT and the organizer, members of other associations will also be able to use this service from September 2026 onwards for an additional fee of €3. Of course, we immediately worked to make this option available for our members as well.
To keep the process as simple as possible, we will provide the DGHT with a list of members who are interested in using the preferred entrance service. However, only members who have explicitly agreed to this will be included on the list. If you do not agree, no personal data will be shared with the DGHT, but unfortunately you will also not be able to obtain an admission wristband through the DGHT tent.
